Ranbir Kapoor has signed his next film, to be directed by his good friend Vicky Singh (assistant director for Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya). The film, titled ‘Roy’, will have Ranbir playing a thief. The film is to be produced by Bhushan Kumar. Bhushan confirmed the story: "e;We are happy to come on board as producers for Roy."e; When the debutant director was contacted, Vicky confirmed the story, and added that his film is likely to be an unabashed crowd-pleaser, with plenty of "e;action and drama."e; "e;A major part of the film will be shot overseas,"e; he said. After the spate of films where he excelled as the quintessential 'underhero' as Ranbir said in an earlier interview to this newspaper, he seems to have developed a taste for larger-than life characters.
‘Roy’ will be shot in foreign locations and will have plenty of action sequences. It will also be Ranbir’s first film, where he will be portraying a ‘larger-than-life’ character.

Arjun Rampal will also be seen essaying an important role of a filmmaker in this film. Jacqueline has been finalized as one of the leading ladies in the film while the second leading lady is yet to be zeroed in on.

If sources are to be believed  'Roy' will go on floors later this year, after Ranbir is through with Besharam and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which he’s currently shooting for.

Ranbir Kapoor is not known for working on many films at a time and it is evident as he has done only Rockstar and Barfi in the last 3 years or so. But now this Kapoor lad is keen to increase his pace and he is signing some very interesting projects. Ranbir's next will be 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' opposite Deepika Padukone which is almost complete. He has also started shooting for Abhinav Kashyap's 'Besharam' which will release in October, 2013. Post that Ranbir is committed to work with his favorite Barfi director Anurag Basu in the Kishore Kumar biopic. In the middle of all this, Ranbir Kapoor has surprised his childhood friend Vicky Singh by agreeing to work on his directorial debut 'Roy'. In this movie Ranbir will play the role of a thief and Jacqueline Fernandez will star opposite him. Film will also have Arjun Rampal in a prominent role and it will be produced by T-Series.
Debutant director Vicky had quit his banking job in the US to assist Farhan Akhtar in Lakshya, and has been trying to get a directorial break for a while. Ranbir Kapoor has also signed Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet which is supposed to go on floors this year. Apparently, Jacqueline and Ranbir have already worked together in a Pepsi commercial.
